Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Manyama has challenged rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to prove they’re ‘top teams’ amid their busy schedules.
Pirates and Sundowns face a potential gruelling fixture schedule this season as they compete both domestically and on the continent, while Chiefs are afforded a more spacious programme – missing out on the MTN8 as well.
Whether this could come as an advantage for Amakhosi to stamp their authority in the Absa Premiership marathon, Manyama insists it is up to The Buccaneers and The Brazilians to navigate their way and prove they can compete on all fronts like all ‘big’ teams.
“We don’t really worry much about who’s doing what and who’s not doing what; obviously it’s football, and in football there are good and bad days,” defended Manyama.
“Unfortunately for them, it’s how it is right now. But they are top teams, and when you’re a top team then I believe top teams all around the world play a lot of games all the time because they’re competing for everything.
“So, we also want to be there, and obviously we get break in between because we didn’t qualify for some of the tournaments, but it also gives us time to improve in what we’re lacking because you can never be a finished product.”
