PSL star accused of training 'drunk'

Premiership

Lantshene Phalane has been sent to train with Bloemfontein Celtic's development team after allegedly coming to work smelling of alcohol.

The 31-year-old, who was reported to be on Kaizer Chiefs' radar just before the January transfer window, is now training with the Siwelele Colts following a breach of the club's code of conduct.

"Yes, Lantshene Phalane is training with the Celtic Colts in the Motsepe League," a close source confirms to KickOff.com.

"He is being punished because he doesn't come to training. When he comes, he comes drunk. For the past two weeks."

Ex-Amakhosi star Tshepo Molatedi once compared Phalane to Barcelona and Spain superstar Sergio Busquets in his style of play and urged Bobby Motaung to sign the player.

But according to the source, the Limpopo-born star enjoys these off-field activities too much to make it at a club like Chiefs.

"No, he is drinking too much. He's disappointed a lot of us because he is over 30 now. He was supposed to be the one to guide youngsters on when to drink or work."

Siwelele, who placed Phalane on the transfer list at the end of last year, could not be reached for comment.
