Kaizer Chiefs froward Khama Billiat has not travelled with the team for their Absa Premiership clash with Black Leopards this evening.
Chiefs host Leopards in their second fixture of the 2019/20 season at their alternative home venue Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban this evening.
However, after missing their opening victory at Highlands Park last weekend, the club have since confirmed that the Zimbabwean star will again not feature in tonight’s match.
“Billiat is recovering from a minor knee injury picked up during pre-season. He had a scan and is now being managed by the medical team,” read a statement from the Chiefs medical department, also confirming he has not travelled with the team.
Coach Ernst Middendorp, meanwhile, has welcomed the return of first-choice left-back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya from a one-match suspension he served last week.
“It is great to welcome back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya from one match ban. He will give us options in the back row of the line-up,” he told the club’s website.
Though new signings Lazarous Kambole and Samir Nirkovic gave a good impression on their competitive debuts at Makhulong Stadium, Middendorp is pleased to have another option in Colombian frontman Leonardo Castro.
“Leo missed the Highlands Park match due to an injury. Leo’s availability is giving us options in the attacking half of our plans,” added Middendorp.
“We are looking forward to the match. Our preparations went well and we know very well that Leopards are no pushovers so we will work twice as hard.”
Kick-off is scheduled for 20h15.
