Tinkler's terrors still coming for Pirates


Maritzburg United are gunning to complete the season and finish in the top four to complete an incredible turnaround with the prize of CAF football.

The Team of Choice have been one of the most dangerous teams in the Absa Premiership this season and are close to making history.

After beating the likes of the mighty and in-form Kaizer Chiefs in league and cup matches, they find themselves still well within reach of even third place in the Absa Premiership.

Eric Tinkler's side were fifth when the PSL was suspended but only a point behind Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United with six matches remaining.

"We just set our goals to want to finish as high as possible and obviously our first goal is to finish in the top eight," Buchanan told the media.

"We've already exceeded a lot of people expectations in terms of making it to a final. Now our focus is to guarantee our top-eight spot, then after that we start setting another goal."

The midfielder says it would be a huge achievement for the club to finish well and play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, especially coming from a campaign in which they survived relegation through the playoffs.

"Finishing in the top four and qualifying for CAF football will be equivalent to almost winning the league," he says.

"Coming from the relegation playoffs to a CAF spot will be a very successful turnaround for the team."
