Mphela: Chiefs need a killer instinct

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela has revealed his thoughts on how the league title race is likely to end.

With the PSL currently suspended, 'Killer' believes the Absa Premiership title race will be decided by how Amakhosi deal with the pressure from a very experienced Brazilians team, who are just four points behind with one game in hand.

"I think Chiefs started well, they made sure they took points when they could and Sundowns always had games in hand," Mphela tells

"The experience of the [Sundowns] coach and players, they are going to fight this until the end but I think it's still in Chiefs' hands."

The former Bafana Bafana striker feels Amakhosi are in control of the situation, they just have to find the first-round form that made them look unstoppable to finish the job.

He believes inconsistency will play into Sundowns' hands as Pitso Mosimane's side have proven to be strong finishers at the end of recent seasons.

"It's up to them [Chiefs] to lose it, they are in control of the situation," he adds.

"They just need to be consistent and if they can do that, they can win the league. If they keep on dropping points, Sundowns will capitalise on that and win it."
