Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung has mourned the shock death of former Amakhosi striker and defender Marc Batchelor.
Batchelor is believed to have been assassinated outside his home in Randburg on Monday evening, with Police confirming he died on the scene.
The 49-year-old donned the colours of Amakhosi between 1997 and 1998 and also plied his trade for PSL giants such as Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows.
Motaung has since revealed his shock at the striker-come-defender’s death while expressing his condolences to the relatives of Batchelor.
“I am shocked to learn about the passing of former Kaizer Chiefs player Marc Batchelor,” Motaung said in a club statement.
“On behalf of Kaizer Chiefs, I wish to express my deepest heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and the football fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Though reasons for his killing have yet to be established, SAPS have opened murder investigations after nothing was taken from the scene of the crime.
