Promising Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sabelo Radebe has shared his delight after being selected by supporters to take part in the inaugural DStv Compact Cup.
Radebe is one of eight Amakhosi players who were chosen to represent the Inland Group 2: Warriors FC squad alongside Njabulo Blom, Bruce Bvuma, Keagan Dolly, Itumeleng Khune, Njabulo Ngcobo, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Mduduzi Shabalala.
The newly-formed tournament is set to take place from 22 to 29 January and will serve as an opportunity for the 21-year-old to stake a claim for more regular football at his club in the second half of the season.
"It’s a nice feeling to be recognised by the fans," he told Chiefs' media team. "It is also highly motivating to be selected for this competition. I must thank the fans for voting and giving me this opportunity to play. I will give my best."
Radebe has made three senior appearances for the club in total since making his debut last season and was also voted as part of the Amakhosi's squad for their triumphant Carling Black Label victory over Orlando Pirates.
The youngster is not getting ahead of himself, however, and is instead focussing on keeping his head down, both on and off of the field.
"My focus is to keep working hard in training and keeping my fitness level up," he added. "I also studied last year and intend to do so in the future again. It’s very important to plan for the future,"
