Unseeded Kaizer Chiefs could be pitted against Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns in today's Telkom Knockout draw in Johannesburg.
Pirates and Sundowns will avoid each other because they are seeded teams that finished in the top eight, but Amakhosi are in danger of getting a tough opponent after finishing ninth last season.
According to information released by the PSL, three bowls will be used to determine the draw for this year's edition of the tournament.
The draw will be made live on SuperSport TV at 13h00, with the tournament set to kick off on October 19.
The first bowl, Pot A, will contain the eight seeded clubs that finished in the Absa Premiership top eight last season. The second bowl (Pot C) will contain the names of the other eight clubs while the third bowl (Pot B) will be empty and will be used to determine the home and away teams.
This is how the draw will work:
• Draw a ball from the seeded bowl (Pot A) and place it in the empty bowl (Pot B) without opening it
• Draw a ball from the unseeded bowl (Pot C) and place it in the empty bowl (Pot B) without opening it
• Go to Pot B and draw the first ball for home, the second ball for away
Baroka FC are set to enter this year's tournament as defending champions after beating Pirates in the final in Port Elizabeth last year.
