Kaizer Chiefs have climbed to the top of the DStv Premiership’s ill-discipline charts following a combative encounter against AmaZulu on Wednesday.

The Amakhosi played out a 1-1 draw against Usuthu at the FNB Stadium in a match that saw both teams reduced to 10 men, with Chiefs’ Cole Alexander and AmaZulu’s Samkelo Mgwazela both shown red cards during the match.

Alexander was the first to be handed his marching orders after picking up two bookings and his dismissal saw Stuart Baxter’s side climb to the top of the league’s ill-discipline standings, sharing the unwanted record with TS Galaxy.

Both teams have accumulated 32 discipline points (1 point for a yellow card, 3 points for a red card) with players from Chiefs boasting 26 yellow cards and two red cards, and players from Galaxy collecting 23 yellow cards and three reds.

Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu are a further point behind with 25 yellows and two reds (31 discipline points) while Maritzburg United are also notable offenders with 21 yellow cards and a joint-league-high three reds (30 discipline points).

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Swallows FC rank as the leagues most disciplined team, with only 14 yellow cards received, and rank narrowly ahead of reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.
