Chiefs target returns to fitness

Former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is ready to return to action after completing rehabilitation on his leg injury.

Petersen has been out of action for almost a year now after suffering a serious injury last year before the lockdowns started.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper was hoping to join Kaizer Chiefs before the start of the season but his move to Naturena could not materialise due to the FIFA transfer ban that was imposed on Amakhosi.

The former Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper is now ready for action after fully recovering from his injury and is ready to listen to any offers in the PSL.

"I am ready to play. I have completed the final part of my rehabilitation and I'm ready for action," Petersen tells KickOff.com.

"I am currently training on my own waiting for any opportunity. If that opportunity doesn't come now I will keep working hard at training to see this season and wait for another opportunity next season."

With the possibility of Itumeleng Khune leaving Chiefs, there could be another chance for Pietersen to join Amakhosi next season, with reports claiming he has already agreed to join Chiefs.

"Why not?" replies Petersen when asked if he would grab an opportunity to join Chiefs next season.

"There is a nice setup. Which player would not dream to play in that kind of professional setup?"
