Chiefs star suspended after arrest

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the suspension of Dumisani Zuma, with the player now set to face a disciplinary hearing.

Zuma was reportedly arrested for drink driving last week after he was pulled over at a roadblock during curfew hours in Sandton whilst allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The 26-year-old, who has only recently returned to training following an injury layoff, was subsequently absent during Chiefs' 2-1 win over rivals Orlando Pirates over the weekend, with the club now confirming that he has been suspended.

"Kaizer Chiefs is disappointed to learn of the recent alleged conduct of Dumsani Zuma as reported in the media and has taken the decision to immediately suspend him from all Club activities pending an internal disciplinary hearing," the club said in an official statement on Wednesday.

"His suspension is in the interests of all parties concerned and does not in itself carry any inference of guilt or prejudgement. The club will ensure the matter is resolved as quickly as reasonably possible."
