Kaizer Chiefs have announced that former striker Shaun Bartlett will not continue in his his role in the technical team.
Chiefs have made a decison to release Bartlett following the sacking of head coach Ernst Middendorp on Wednesday.
The former Bafana Bafana striker was appointed on a two-and-a-half year deal alongside Middendorp in December 2018, but their joint efforts proved futile as they lost the Absa Premiership title this season.
The club have reached a settlement agreement with the 47-year-old, ruling him out of contention for promotion to the hot seat at the Soweto giants.
"Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung, the board of directors and the club’s management would like to further announce that they have agreed to an early termination of assistant coach Shaun Bartlett’s contract," read a statement from the club.
"The decision to release Bartlett follows that of Amakhosi and head coach Ernst Middendorp going their separate ways yesterday."
