Chiefs issued stern warning

Premiership

AmaZulu have raised voices of vengeance against Kaizer Chiefs after officiating blunders saw the full count of three points stolen from their purse right at the death in the reserve fixture.

Usuthu looked set for maximum as they led at home deep into injury time at the beginning of last month only for referee Jelly Chavani to deny them by handing Chiefs a dubious penalty.

Though Chavani was then suspended along with assistant Moeketsi Molelekoa and has not officiated any topflight league game since then, Usuthu had to settle for a share of the points and have travelled up inland to FNB Stadium with their wounds still fresh.

"Chiefs owe us because of what happened in the first round," says Thembela Sikhakhane in reference to what happened the last time the two clubs met.

"Chiefs need the points just like us, but we need them more so that we bring back our belief. We played a draw away (against Stellenbosch) in a game where we were deserving of all three points which is all part of football.

"We must now bring back our belief in the game against Chiefs. The spirit of all players here is high, and it is evident that all players are prepared," says the former Orlando Pirates right-back whose sentiments are shared by teammate Samkelo Mgwazela.

"It is a big game, so the guys and the coach don’t want to lose this game. Kaizer Chiefs owes us because they got a late penalty, and we weren’t convinced that it was a penalty the last time they came here to Kings Park.

"Everyone in the team is focused and ready to go to war and we are looking forward to playing this game which we don’t want to lose. The coach told us that we need to come to the party as the train needs to start moving like last season so we cannot lose this game.

"We always have that fighting spirit since we went to Africa to Lubumbashi. It is just that we are not being consistent. I believe we can steal the three points," says Mgwazela.
