Baroka FC captain Mduduzi Mdantsane is believed to be the subject of transfer interest from Kaizer Chiefs.
According to a reliable source, negotiations between the player's agent Vasili Barbis and the two clubs are already underway.
Mdantsane, who previously played for Amakhosi's MDC team, missed just one league game for Bakgaga in the 2018/19 season, scoring four goals and providing six assists to help the club avoid relegation.
The 24-year-old also helped Baroka win the Telkom Knockout after beating Orlando Pirates in the final last year.
On an article that was published on February 28, 2019 Mdantsane revealed to this website that he would love to play in the Soweto derby one day.
"There are offers for the boy from Chiefs and Highlands Park, those are the two serious teams," the source tells KickOff.com.
"So they are still busy negotiating with the chairman of Baroka. Bobby [Motaung] is the one who approached his agent, it seems they want him back home. Maybe he will make them great again, who knows?
"When the agent broke the news to the boy, the boy said if the offer is successful he can take it. His contract at Baroka is only left with one year. It ends in July next year. What's left now is for Mr [Khurishi] Mphahlele to reply. It will all depend on the two clubs because the boy just wants to play football.
"I think Chiefs have already spoken to the chairman, then Highlands Park have just started showing their interest recently you see. They have spoken to the agent only, and the agent referred them to the chairman. I think both teams are still waiting for the chairman to name his price. They are still negotiating."
Asked for comment on the matter, Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele denied the story.
"Where do you get that from?" he said. "I don't know anything about that."
Barbis could not be reached for comment.
