Hunt: We need another 17 points

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt has revealed their target for the DStv Premiership after qualifying for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

Chiefs are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns, Simba SC or Esperance de Tunis in the last-eight after outsing Horoya as Group C runners-up.

While they've made history by qualifying for the group stages and knockout round for the first time in their history, their domestic form has not been close to the title challenge from the 2019/20 campaign.

Currently in ninth place and 22 points behind league leaders Sundowns - who pipped them to the title last season - Hunt has expressed their target for the remaining league fixtures.

"We need another 17 points in the league to get ourselves at the top and that's minimum. Now 17 [points] in ten [games] sounds doable but it's easier said than done," Hunt said before explaining the difference between the two competitions.

"[The] PSL is totally different to the Champions League, Champions League much slower, physical and direct where the PSL is more movement so you have to change and adapt."

Chiefs return to domestic action when they face Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Thursday afternoon (15h00).
