A third straight victory saw Amakhosi climb above Mpumalanga Black Aces into third spot on the table with 35 points from 19 games - a point behind Wits, and seven shy of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Komphela said: "From our side, as a club, the result is great, it keeps us up there even though people deserve better in terms of performance.
"In terms of performance we had guts, there was desire and more determination. Was it something very nice to watch? Might not have been but what is more important is when you wake up tomorrow you have a point away from them and you are nearer to who is on top.
"It is nice when you check the results, the scores. There is no comment in the results column."
He added: "We had to be careful. There were things we were wary about. You need grit to get the result in a match of this nature.
"We had to grind out the result in the second half and be careful of the likes of Henrico Botes and Keene."
