Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed when the most-talked-about player right now, Khama Billiat, will return to the field for Amakhosi.
The Zimbabwean hasn't featured for Amakhosi so far this season, and has been linked with a move away from the club, with a possible return to Mamelodi Sundowns being a major talking point.
After Amakhosi’s 1-0 victory over Black Leopards at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night, Middendorp gave an update on the player.
“He came back from African Cup of Nations in Egypt with an in issue on his left knee, he came exactly on the 15th of July, stayed for four days,” Middendorp explains.
The coach says the was not fully fit to play in the Carling Black Label, but because they had to honour the request from the supporters who voted for him, he requested to participate against Orlando Pirates.
"On our trip to Botswana he didn't travel with the team. We were not planning to play him in the Carling Cup, but requested because he was voted by the supporters and we had to honoured that. But immidiately after the game he had pain and again we had to do check ups."
Billiat will be available for selection for their next match against SuperSport United, according to Middendorp.
"On the 30th of July at 11:14 the X-ray scan results came, telling us basically on his left ligament everything was okay but we had to be careful with it.
“It started again on the 31st of July, we were then instructed to give him three weeks from 31st July to the 21st of August. He will be available for selection on the 24th of August. I can assure you the player knows and he's fully aware of the process, even the chairman knows how we are managing the situation."
