Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela following frustrating spell on the sidelines.
Mahlasela has endured a torrid stay at Chiefs over the past two years and has since been reduced to a squad player this season, having failed to make a single appearance.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic winger has since been shipped out to Polokwane City on a short-term loan until the end of the 2019/20 season in an effort to afford him game time.
Amakhosi are looking to trim their squad so as to make sure there are not too many unsettled figures in their camp as they push for the Absa Premiership title, with a six-point lead at the top of the table.
“Kabelo remains a talented player and we wish him all of the best with City for the next five months,” football manager Bobby Motaung said in a club statement.
As such, the diminutive 28-year-old becomes the first to depart in the current transfer window, with a couple more expected to follow suit.
Mahlasela's contract is set to run up at the end of his loan spell, with the club unlikely to exercise their one-year option.
