Ex-Chiefs striker's son makes PSL debut

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has given another youngster a dream debut in professional football.

Tembo handed Khanyisile Mayo his PSL debut during the Absa Premiership match against Highlands Park in Tshwane on Saturday.

Khanyisile, who is the son of Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo and brother of Royal Eagles star Khanyisa Mayo, came on in the 85th minute of their 2-0 win to replace the injured Aubrey Modiba.

Tembo has since warned the 19-year-old to keep grounded and continue working hard if he hopes to keep his place in the team.

"Look, he did well. He came on and showed hunger and desire that he wants to play. That's very key and important," said Tembo.

"All today he did was to make sure he makes me remember him again. He might not play again [soon] because it's important to keep these youngsters hungry and they must know it's not come and play here.

"You must keep working hard. Playing 5 to10 minutes doesn't make you a full product."

Tembo also handed South Africa under-20 star Oswin Appolis his debut against Stellenbosch in their previous league match at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
