SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo felt his charges were tactically brilliant during their 3-0 triumph over Orlando Pirates.
Tembo did not show much of emotions after his side dominated Pirates throughout the match to record their first victory of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign.
“Tactically we were brilliant today. We planned very well in terms of our pressing. We knew that if we press well, they risk the ball, they want to build from the back,” Tembo told SuperSport TV..
“We wanted to disrupt them and make sure they don’t get to the front players easily. We managed to do that. The whole team deserves a pat on the back because we worked hard throughout the 90 minutes, we never stopped working hard.”
“It was (open) because our intention was to always press them a little bit higher, so that we’re always closer to the goals. In the first half they played with three and we knew that if we press properly, it was always going to be three versus three upfront. That is what was happening all the time. Maybe first half we could have been two or three because we had chances.”
The Zimbabwean tactician also had special praise for Man of the Match and two-goal hero Bradley Grobler.
“He deserves that. He’s been working very hard. Against [Mamelodi] Sundowns he was just unlucky, he could have scored. I’m very happy for him he’s been working very hard at training and even in our matches,” he said.
