Maritzburg United have broken its silence regarding the future of experienced defender Clayton Daniels who was recently released.
Earlier this month the Team of Choice confirmed the release of eight players including veterans Daniels and Nazeer Allie.
There might be a lifeline though for Daniels as the club is considering using him as a player-coach.
Daniels who will be turning 38 next month on July 10, played an important role last season to keep the KwaZulu-Natal club in the DStv Premiership for another season.
His only goal of the season in his 17 appearances saw Limpopo club Baroka FC being relegated to the GladAfrica Championship.

According to Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia, the club is still contemplating in what position to use the defender's experience next season.
"Regarding Clayton Daniels no there's no official statement yet," Kadodia tells KickOff.
"Definitely he was released, but the thing is we are looking to see whether we probably can't use him somewhere in the club.
"But there's no decision has been taken on that yet."
Speaking to thing publication, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana centre-back said he was still waiting for the club to clarify things for him.
"Nothing yet, as I'm still on holiday, there's a new coach in John Maduka, so we are just waiting for them to make a decision."
