The former Amakhosi midfielder, now 34, will also be part of Ngwaabe's technical team as an assistant coach.

"I am very excited and happy to be back in football especially with the opportunity given to me by this team," Khanye tells from Polokwane.

"I was here last week to celebrate their promotion and got a chance to speak to and motivate the players. I want to grab this opportunity with both hands and make sure that I add experience as a player and add value as an assistant coach.

"I want to see this team going to NFD and then to PSL. It's possible. Chippa [United] did it and it's possible. I want to see myself where I belong, that is to play in top-flight football. I want to achieve it with this team.

"Obviously I will always be open to other opportunities if they come but at the moment I am focused on the opportunity of helping this club achieve their dream of promotion to NFD and PSL."

Khanye's time with Chiefs was brief but memorable. He has also played for Platinum Stars, Maritzburg United, United FC and Malanti Chiefs in Eswatini.
