Khanye questions Baxter selections

Former player Junior Khanye has questioned new coach Stuart Baxter's selections after a recent 2-0 defeat to defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

One of the more contentious selections by Baxter has been the omission of new signing and last season's Defender of the Season, Njabulo Ngcobo.

"Why is he failing to notice Ngcobo in training? That boy is quality," Khanye tells

"This Baxter guy must stop fooling us. He must just fix his team selections. It's even worse when it comes to his substitutions."

Khanye then went even further as to question whether Baxter was the right man for the Chiefs job.

"Stuart Baxter is not the right man to coach Kaizer Chiefs. When I said that to people, I got attacked.

"At Kaizer Chiefs, the majority of players that they’ve signed are quality players.

"Baxter’s downfall is his team selections. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo was an emerging talent but at the moment he is nowhere to be found.

"How can you put a Defender of the Season from Swallows on the bench and instead select Eric Mathoho and Daniel Cardoso. The same people who cost Chiefs the league when they were leading by 13 points?

"Last season the club also almost failed to make it into the Top 8 with those same pair of defenders.

"I said to many people that Baxter would never play Ngcobo because he is a ballplayer."
