Vukusic rejects goalkeeper crisis talk

AmaZulu FC coach Jozef Vukusic says he is not really stressed about his goalkeeping department without their first choice goalkeeper.

Siyabonga Mbatha suffered a serious head injury against Mamelodi Sundowns in November and has been side-lined ever since.

Usuthu are set to face Sundowns for their second-round Absa Premiership clash this evening (20h15), with the 30-year-old set to continue watching on from the stands.

Vukušič sees no need to panic and has voiced his support for 23-year-old Neil Boshoff, who climbed from third-choice to keeping two clean sheets and conceding just three goals in six league matches this season.

“I think Neil had good games [since coming in for Mbatha]. In the last game, he didn't have a 100% performance but we didn't lose the match,” said the Slovakian coach.

“So, he's a very good replacement for Siyabonga and I'm happy with that. We don't feel any weakness in that department.”

Mbatha has since returned to training but still needs to undergo another scan before he is cleared to return to competitive action.
