It could be a while before Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer can return to South Africa after his son was involved in a serious vehicle accident.
Zinnbauer departed the country straight after Pirates' 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-finals on Saturday citing a family emergency.
Pirates also issued a statement confirming that the coach's son had been admitted to hospital, with Zinnbauer asking for privacy while he attended to a sensitive matter.
However, it was now been reported in German publication Bild that Fabio Zinnbauer, 24, has fallen into a coma following a car crash in Nuremberg on October 23.
'A serious accident happened on Münchener Strasse in Nuremberg on October 23. The 24-year-old Skoda driver is in mortal danger,' reads the report.
'It is the son of Joe Zinnbauer . The ex-HSV coach [now in South Africa with Orlando Pirates] is very worried about Fabio.
'Fabio is seriously injured and is in a coma. The police are investigating. How it came to the horror crash at 1pm has not yet been clarified.'
Pirates administrative manager Floyd Mbele has confirmed to KickOff.com that assistant coach Fadlu Davids will lead the team when they visit Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.
