Johnson: 'I hope Pirates don't win'

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Grant Johnson can't see Baroka FC doing his current club SuperSport United any favours in their DStv Premiership clash.

SuperSport are in sixth position on the log table while Pirates are 7th. Only a single point separates the two sides.

Though he hopes the Buccaneers fail to register maximum points for his side to keep their place, Johnson who serves as SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper coach believes Ezikamagebhula might be too much for Bakgaga at Orlando Stadium.

"Pirates are doing well it looks like things are starting to change for them," Johnson tells

"It looks like they are getting into a rhythm, when you get a couple of good results it becomes a lot easier.

"I think Pirates should win it, that's my personal opinion. Although results are very difficult to predict.

"I mean two weeks ago Kaizer Chiefs were in the ninth position and now they are second. The league is very, very difficult to predict.

"But on paper Pirates should beat Baroka. You just got to keep winning to stay on the race. At this point I think Sundowns is going to win the league, I don't think anybody is going to stop them.

"I think second place in the league is very important, and I think a lot of teams are now pushing for that second place.

"I hope Pirates don't win, but at this point, we just got to focus on ourselves and make sure that we keep winning.

"SuperSport play Sekhukhune at the weekend and we just have to make sure we get the maximum points and not worry about anybody else around us. As long as we keep winning we will climb the ladder.

"I think Pirates are a better team than Baroka on paper, so they should walk away with it. But again, on the day, we just don't know."
