Brockie hits 10, eyes Golden Boot

Brockie was provided with the easiest of tap-ins after Michael Morton combined with Thuso Phala down the right. SuperSport won 3-0 at Chatsworth Stadium.

“The longer the game was going on I didn’t think I was gonna get one at the end but credit to Michael Morton, he made a great run down there and cut the ball back nicely and they don’t come any easier than that, it was good to get it in the back of the net,” Brockie told SuperSport.

“It was very important to win, we’re sort of battling with that top eight with Golden Arrows and we knew that we had to get the three points today.

“The second half was pretty sloppy, we gave the ball away and didn’t really take advantage of the extra man but there’s things to work on. At the end of the day we’re happy with the three points.”

Brockie admits he has his eye on the Golden Boot award but won’t rule out the chances of his competitors.

“Every goalscorer wants to end up at the top, Collins [Mbesuma] and Prince [Nxumalo] have had a very good season as well so it will take a lot to catch them, but there’s still seven games to go so we’ll see,” he concluded.
