He’s finally got a move and now Jeremy Brockie has set himself a target that shows he has not lost any confidence despite being a fringe player at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Now on loan to Maritzburg United, the New Zealand-born forward has set his sights on winning Absa Premiership Golden Boot award at the end of the season.
Brockie, who is on loan for the season, was so confident and couldn't hide his excitement following his deadline day move from Chloorkop to KZN, where he hopes to get a chance to play regularly.
Brockie says he will celebrate should he score against Sundowns this season.
"I will celebrate any goal that I will score, whether my debut comes against Sundowns or not, whenever it will come. I have to make the most of that opportunity, to guarantee that I stay in that starting line-up. I've got to work hard to get into the starting line-up, prove myself and train hard," he said earlier this week.
Brockie made a name for himself while in the colours of SuperSport United and established himself as a finisher, earning the nickname ‘Sniper’. He wants to compete for the top scorer award and can’t wait to compete with former Matsatsantsa teammate Bradley Grobler, who is in fine form at the moment. Grobler is currently the league’s top scorer on four goals.
"I would like to get into double figures, and compete with Bradley Grobler in the top goal scorer [race]. He's been on fire this season, which is very nice to see. Hopefully he can stay injury free for the season so we can have a good competition."
