Pirates can sign Ivorian defender for free

Orlando Pirates can sign Ivorian defender Kouassi Kouadja on a free transfer if he impresses coach Rhulani Mokwena and his technical team.

Kouadja joined Pirates on trial last week with the hope of securing a contract with the Mighty Buccaneers.

The 24-year-old defender arrived at Cape Town City last season but could not enjoy enough game time due to injuries.

However, Kouadja could now get a chance to show South African football fans what he is capable of if he joins Pirates this season.

"He is a free agent. He can sign with any team anytime," a source close to the player tells KickOff.com.

"He is looking forward to impress at Pirates and hopefully he signs with the team before January."

Cape Town City boss John Comitis has confirmed that Kouadja was no longer with his team and is free to join any team of his choice.

"He is no longer with us," adds Comitis in a brief interview.

Bucs are looking forward to reinforcing their defence in January after leaking many goals in the league this season.
