Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu both moved to Orlando Pirates this season while Rushine De Reuck is believed to have attracted interest as well.

"Maritzburg United has always had a youthful squad that is dedicated but not only dedicated, also ambitious," Maboe tells

"I would say the secret behind Maritzburg United keeping on producing quality players is the fact that they have a very ambitious management and attract ambitious coaches.

"Because if you look at my spell at Maritzburg United, we had coach Fadlu [Davids] who is very ambitious and always pushed us to our limits.

"They assembled a good squad dominated by youth with a couple of experienced players to help the upcoming youth who are still new to the Premiership.

"So I would also say having good management rubbing off to the players who have always been hungry, they kind of make you believe it's possible to achieve anything."

Maboe, who was part of the team that finished in the top four and lost in the Nedbank Cup final in 2018, says you learn to excel in any structure at Maritzburg.

"They make you understand in your talent – like in my case coach Fadlu was very disciplined, always telling us, 'If you want to succeed, express yourself according to that team structure.'

"So I feel like that gives you confidence to excel everywhere you go."
