Pitso Mosimane has explained how Mamelodi Sundowns were beaten by Belgian club KAS Eupen to the services of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona.
The Zimbabwe international was on the wanted-list of Sundowns but on Friday opted to sign for the Pro League side on loan until the end of the season from Anderlecht.
Mosimane made his interest in Musona known during this January transfer window and went after the former Amakhosi striker after he fell out of favour at Anderlecht, to no avail.
"I can confirm we wanted Musona but he decided to go for the Eupen programme in Qatar. We could not match the Qatar money," Mosimane revealed.
"But it's okay. We hope Mauricio [Affonso] comes back. [Jose] Ali Meza has recovered."
Meanwhile, Eupen coach Benat San Jose is happy with the way Musona adjusted to the team's setup since joining them for an assessment prior to his signing.
"Knowledge Musona has integrated very well into the team. He is a player who offers us additional opportunities in attack," San Jose said last week at the player's unveiling.
"He can score goals himself, but he can also support his teammates with good passes."
Indeed, the 29-year-old took just 10 minutes of his Eupen debut to get off the mark, scoring the equaliser after his team went behind early in a 1-1 draw with Charleroi in Saturday.
