Richards Bay FC chairman Jomo Biyela has explained how Kaizer Chiefs won the race for Bafana Bafana defender Austin Dube.
The Bafana centre-back is one of eight new players that were recently unveiled by Amakhosi ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Dube was hot property in the GladAfrca Championship last season, helping The Natal Rich Boyz knock Chiefs out of the Nedbank Cup while they also finished third on the log..
However, Biyela says Chiefs were the only club that put forward an offer for Dube.
"Maybe the others wanted him in wrong places, talking to their friends," Biyela tells Kickoff.com.
"Us the only thing we were taught in football and the one that we know is, when you want a player, you speak to his team. And then you make an offer to his team. That's how they got him. They were the only team that wanted him, there's no other team that I know of."
Biyela says Dube's move to Naturena shows the club are heading in the right direction.
"Well as a club it means there's something right that we are doing. Though we are playing at this level (GladAfrica Championship), our players are able to be identified by Bafana Bafana and also big teams like Kaizer Chiefs. It means we are on the right track even though we have not yet reached the Premier League. We must keep on working hard."
