SuperSport United are set to welcome a new striker to the club and coach Kaitano Tembo has since explained how the player will fit in.

Following his release from Stellenbosch FC at the end of last month, Iqraam Rayners is set for an early move to join SuperSport ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Rayners, who was the First Division top goal scorer with 19 goals in Stellies' promotion-winning 2018/19 campaign, saw his contract with the Western Cape-based outfit run out on June 30, and had earlier penned a pre-contract with the Tshwane side.

Tembo has explained how exactly the 24-year-old could fit into Matsatsantsa's frontline, which already boasts the likes of Bradley Grobler, Evans Rusike and Thamsanqa Gabuza.

"It's very difficult to find players who can score goals. If you look at it, in the NFD he scored close to 20 goals, and that says a lot about him," Tembo told the SA Football Journalists' Association.

"He's also quick, very good on one-versus-one, he can play on the right, he can play on the left, he can play in the centre, and with us playing with three attackers, he'll fit perfectly.

"If you look at Bradley, he can also play on the left or on the right, and also in the centre; Evans can play on the left or the right and in the centre.

"So those are the type of players that we're looking for – players who can play multiple positions up front and will allow us to interchange positions even during the game, and that's the reason why we brought Iqraam in here.

"He'll join us early so that he gets an opportunity to get used to our environment and how we do things, so that by the time we get to next season, he's already settled in."
