Insight on Chiefs' player management

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has shared insight into the workings within his squad as they remain a relatively jubilant bunch despite some players not seeing any action.

Chiefs are often seen enjoying their training sessions during media days, with all players working well with one another – even those sitting on the fringes.

Middendorp has since explained how he handles the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho, Siphelele Ntshangase, Philani Zulu, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and numerous others that don’t enjoy frequent game-time.

“Of course, it’s a little bit difficult for some players not getting into it, but there’s always a ranking inside [any squad],” commented Middendorp.

“I think what’s very clear is not to swap today in a position like this, and then tomorrow in a position like that, make it happen that everybody knows where he’s sitting.

“It’s normal that we talk about core players, players who are first-choice and completing the team, and then we talk about players who are sitting behind and need to improve in certain directions.
