Highlands edging closer towards PSL

Premiership

Highlands Park have already moved a step closer to returning to top-flight football after winning promotion to the ABC Motsepe League on Sunday.

The Lions of the North, who kept their place in the SAB League after the club's PSL status was sold to Tim Sukazi, beat Tshwane South College 3-2 to secure a place in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

The Tembisa-based side beat Maholosiane 4-2 in the semi-finals earlier on to book themselves a place in the final of the promotion playoffs.

Despite their victory on Sunday, Highlands chairman Brad Kaftel sounded like he is not in a hurry to get his team back in the PSL.

"It's a long journey to go, we are only in the ABC Motsepe League and we are a young team. We are going to take each game at a time and see how it goes," Kaftel tells KickOff.com.

"Our own objective in football is to enjoy football and develop players and uphold the Highlands Park brand. We are not in football to make money.

"Football is not our primary business, football to us is a hobby. We do it to enjoy it and develop players."
