Highlands edge closer to top flight return

Highlands Park have moved a step to re-joining the top flight sides in South African football.

After winning promotion to the to the ABC Motsepe League next season, the Lions of the North are now one step away from joining the PSL big boys in the Nedbank Cup.

Highlands registered a 1-0 win over African All Stars in a Nedbank Cup qualifier yesterday, edging the former the top flight side closer to a spot in the Last 32.

The Lions of the North sold their top flight status to TS Galaxy a few months ago but still kept their development team in the SAB league.

The Guateng outfit are now left with one game to win before joining other clubs from lower divisions to qualify for the round of 32.

Highlands Park boss Brad Kaftel recently told Kickoff.com that his team was not in a rush to return back to PSL because of financial constraints.
