South Africa under-23 and Ajax Cape Town midfielder Grant Margeman has expressed his desire to join Mamelodi Sundowns.

Margeman has been doing well for the Urban Warriors in the GladAfrica Championship this season with five goals so far and throughout 2019 he has been linked with a move to the defending Absa Premiership champions.

Speaking on Saturday after his side's 3-1 victory over Uthongathi at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, the 21-year-old said his focus right now is on helping Ajax gain automatic promotion.

"I think that's every player's dream to play in the top league in the country, but at the moment nothing has come through you know," Margeman tells KickOff.com.

"I'm still at Ajax Cape Town and my main focus is here to help the team get automatic promotion."

Margeman admits the interest from Sundowns motivates him to work extra hard every week so that he can meet their standards.

"I think it motivates me you know, the champions of the PSL being interested in a player like me, it gives me motivation to push every week so I can be a player that can go there," he concludes.

Margeman's contract with Ajax finishes at the end of the season, meaning he is currently free to pen a pre-contract with any team of his choice.
