Award-winner reacts to Chiefs links

Goodman Mosele has reacted to being linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs after winning the Absa Premiership Young Player of the Season award.

The Baroka central midfielder says he did not expect to be crowned with an end-of-season award as he beat Maritzburg United's Bongokuhle Hlongwane and AmaZulu's Sphesihle Maduna to the R50 000 prize.

"I wasn't expecting, it came as a surprise even to me you see, but at the same time I had faith that I will win," Mosele tells

"This is my third season in the PSL. It took me some time to get used to the league so I've been familiarising myself all along. Now I know what it is that I need to do. What I'll do from here is to work hard, that's all.

"To me this Young Player of the Season thing is in the past now. My focus now is on helping the team play well so we can find ourselves in a good position at the end of the season. What happened last season is in the past now."

Mosele, who is turning 21 in November, says his next target is a Bafana Bafana call-up.

"National team," he laughs. "It has always been my dream to play for Bafana Bafana. I grew up dreaming of playing for the national team. That's my biggest goal in my life. What excites me is representing your country."

The South Africa under-23 international has been recently linked with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs as well as clubs in Europe as his profile continues to rise.

"Yho! I don't want to lie, I only see that in the papers. No one has spoken to me. I don't want to lie, as for me my concentration is at Baroka," he says.

"If they want me they will speak to the chairman [Khurishi Mphahlele]. Everything that happens to me starts with the chairman."
