Maluleka advised to finish contract at Sundowns

George Maluleka has been advised to stay at Mamelodi Sundowns despite not getting regular game-time.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star has been reduced to a bench warmer at Sundowns. So far this season the 33-year-old has featured in only two matches. He will be 36 by the time his contract with Sundowns expires and possibly thinking of retirement.

But former Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse believes that at his age, Maluleka can still play an important role on the pitch for the club.

"At the end of the day it's up to the player himself, it’s how he feels,” Arendse tells Kickoff.com.

"If he feels he stands a chance especially with the hectic schedule Sundowns have; they have Champions League, they need to finish the league, there's Nedbank Cup coming up as well.

"So I'm sure he will get his opportunity, if he feels he has to fight for his position I'm 100% behind him. He knows what he's worth and he knows where he is at.

"I think he should stay it out because with the schedule at Sundowns I'm sure he's going to see more games. The coach is gonna have to play all his players.

"It's all up to him just to showcase what he's got and he should back it. At the end of the day it's what the player feels and how he feels it,” Arendse said.
