Lebese finally finds new club overseas

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Lebese has finally ended his spell in limbo after joining a club in the United Soccer League Championship.

Lebese has been wthout a club since parting ways with Sundowns nearly four months ago, but has now joined American second division side Colorando Springs Switchbacks.

The 30-year-old's arrival was confirmed by the Switchbacks on Thursday, ahead of their season starting in March next year.

"The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has signed George Lebese, pending USL Championship and USSF approval," read a statement from the USL Championship side.

Chiefs supporters earlier called for the Soweto side to afford Lebese a second chance but ultimately nothing materialised, and the former Bafana Bafana winger has now expressed his delight at having since been granted the opportunity to join the Switchbacks.

"It's a great honor and blessing to be given this opportunity to join the Switchbacks family. I can't extend my sincere gratitude and above all, I just want to thank God for everything," he commented on his club's website.
