Lebese denies Chiefs return talks

Former Kaizer Chiefs star George Lebese has dismissed rumours linking him with a potential return to the club following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Lebese is currently enduring icy weather conditions in Colorado Springs, where he plies his trade for Unites State League Championship side Switchbacks.

The 31-year-old midfielder joined the American outfit in December last year, a few months after agreeing a contract termination with Sundowns on 2 September.

During his time without a club, rumours resurfaced that the former Arcadia Shepherds left-winger could make a prodigal return to the Glamour Boys, with club stalwart Itumeleng Khune having been said to be brokering the deal.

However, the move never materialised and instead Lebese ended up signing a one-year deal with the Switchbacks, where insists he is happy, and has since cleared the air the relationship he has with the club and its supporters.

"The truth is I’m gonna keep attaching myself to a team that gave me a big break bcos [sic] of the love but the big problem is I made a decision tht was not ok for the team at that time, but the support and love I still get from the the fans is for life," said Lebese on his Twitter.

"I wasn’t asking for a return, I thank KC for the opportunity but I’m @SwitchbacksFC happily now."
