Hunt welcomes Christmas 'babalaas'

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes not having a long Christmas break will do wonders for his charges heading into their next game in the New Year.

Wits have returned to training immediately after Christmas Day as they prepare for their CAF Confederation Cup group encounter against Libyan side Al Nasr.

The Clever Boys will be hoping to register their first win of the round-robin phase, when they host bottom-of-the-group outfit at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday evening (18h00).

Hunt believes their early return with minimal days off could play to their advantage, with many possibly carrying a “babalaas” in training.

“That's fine [to return on Boxing Day]. Maybe they [the players] will play better having a babalaas,” Hunt tells

“Only one or two days – that's it. We are playing in Africa on Sunday; we’re playing a game on Sunday, so those two days are no problem.

“We’ve got Africa first hey, we can't chew more than that. We have to play Africa first on Sunday. Merry Christmas, happy new year to everyone and enjoy the festive season.”
