New Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt has responded to doubts following his decision to work with trigger-happy Siviwe Mpengesi.
In what came as somewhat of a shock, Hunt was last week announced as the new Chippa coach, a few months after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs.
The 57-year-old tactician will now take charge of his eighth PSL club since venturing into coaching with Seven Stars back in 1995, but is arguably faced with the most volatile seat on the scene.
Asked whether he believes he has what it takes to buck the trend at the Chilli Boys and become the first coach to see out his contract, Hunt responded: "Speak to him [Mpengesi], no just speak to him about that. I'm obviously looking forward to the challenge you know, let's go."
Given the freedom in the transfer market, the former Bidvest Wits coach's appointment could prove a masterstroke for the Gqeberha-based outfit, given his knack for turning 'small' teams into title contenders.
