Major boost for Downs ahead of final

Mamelodi Sundowns have received a major boost ahead of the Telkom Knockout final against Maritzburg United in Durban on Saturday.

Influential midfielder Gaston Sirino will be available again after missing the last two league games for Sundowns due to suspension after receiving a red card against Golden Arrows a few weeks ago.

The Uruguayan completed his suspension as The Brazilians beat Stellenbosch 3-1 in Pretoria last night.

There had been a chance that the PSL would hit Sirino with another ban for charges labelled against him of unsporting behaviour and assault during the MTN8 semifinal against SuperSport United earlier this season.

However, Sirino, who was suffering from stress and had to delay the disciplinary proceedings over the past few weeks, is still waiting for the outcome, meaning he will be available this weekend.

"On the 9th of December which is on Monday we submitted heads of arguments," Sundowns official Yugesh Singh confirms to

"I think the panel will consider that and come back to us. So for now we are waiting for the panel."
