Rhulani Mokwena’s managerial career kicked off this past weekend as he took the reins at Orlando Pirates following Milutin Sredojevic’s sudden exit.
Mokwena has become a prominent coaching figure in the PSL since making a surprise switch from Mamelodi Sundowns to Pirates at the start of the 2017/18 season to become Sredojevic’s assistant.
The budding young tactician has been widely touted as the next best coach in South Africa for his role in aiding Pitso Mosimane and The Brazilians to the 2016 CAF Champions League.
He has since been thrusted into the head coaching role at The Buccaneers after the Serbian abruptly vacated his post last Friday evening, just a few hours before their MTN8 quarterfinal showdown at Orlando Stadium.
Mokwena was strutting his stuff on the touchline for the first time as the official shot-caller for Pirates against Highlands Park on Saturday, but also tasted his first defeat as they were eliminated from the cup competition.
