Pirates' win historic for Zinnbauer

Premiership

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer enjoyed a historic victory in his managerial career when the Buccaneers swept Polokwane City aside on Tuesday evening.

Pirates ran rampant over Rise and Shine as they registered a 4-1 victory at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to move up to fifth spot on the Absa Premiership standings.

This was Bucs' first time scoring four goals in a single match this season, while also registering their biggest win since beating AmaZulu 4-1 back in February last year.

For Zinnbauer, it was the German tactician's biggest victory of his senior managerial career, according to his record on transfermarkt.com.

The 49-year-old, who began his senior career with Bundesliga side Hamburger, had previously registered a record 3-0 win over SC Paderborn back in February 2015.

He then equalled that record with Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen when they beat FC Zurich 3-0 in May 2016 and again vs FC Luzern in August 2016.

Zinnbauer remains unbeaten since taking over the reins from interim head coach Rhulani Mokwena, who is currently away from the team, winning two and drawing one of his three matches since the end of December.
