For Pitso Mosimane it was a record fifth title as a coach, as he went ahead of the late Ted Dumitru, Gavin Hunt and Gordon Igesund, who all boast four Premiership crowns as coaches.

Another Soweto giant in Orlando Pirates secured third position and qualification to next season's CAF Confederation Cup, pipping fourth-placed SuperSport United at the finish line.

Elsewhere, it was Bidvest Wits' 'Last Dance' as they ended a 99-year run following the club's shock status sale to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, while Baroka contributed to Chiefs' misery to secure their own status in the top-flight.

For Polokwane City it was goodbye as they drop down to the GladAfrica Championship, with Black Leopards now having to contest the promotion/relegation playoffs.
