PSL’s 14 most valuable foreign stars


The PSL is home to many big-name stars from across the borders, and Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns seem to own some of the most valuable.

Chiefs and Sundowns in fact account for the highest totalling non-South Africans within the top 14 most valuable players in the league at combined values of R53,8-million each.

Of the overall list, two are based in Naturena while three are in Chloorkop, while Bidvest Wits, Black Leopards, Highlands Park, Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United also have representation.

The list is also dominated by three Zimbabweans, while nations such as Namibia, Zambia, Uruguay and Malawi all have two representatives.

The top 14 currently plying their trade are also made up of 10 attackers, three goalkeepers and one defender, showing just where foreign demand lies within the Absa Premiership.

Totalling in value of just under R260-million, according to the current Euro-Rand exchange rate, the most valuable player amongst these single-handedly accounts for an impressive R38,6-million.
