Pirates' striker woes deepen

Orlando Pirates have been dealt another blow as striker Gabadinho Mhango has been ruled out ahead of their upcoming clash against Maritzburg United.

Pirates have confirmed that Mhango will play no part in their DStv Premiership encounter at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday after picking up an injury in midweek.

The Malawian international has suffered a thigh muscle injury and is expected to miss the club's next four-to-five matches across all competitions, including next weekend's Soweto Derby.

"The first team has been dealt a blow ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United with Gabadinho Mhango ruled out of the match due to injury," read an update from the Buccaneers.

"According to the Bucs medical team, the Malawian international picked up a quad strain in the goalless draw against Golden Arrows on Wednesday and is expected out for up to two weeks."

Coach Josef Zinnbauer will be sweating over his options up front, with only Terrence Dzvukamanja and Jean-Marc Makusu currently available for selection.

"Tshegofatso Mabasa continues to undergo rehabilitation with the strength and conditioning team. Expected time to return to full training: 3-4 weeks," further read the update.

"Zakhele Lepasa is undergoing rehabilitation with the strength and conditioning team. Expected time to return to full training: 4+ weeks.

"Paseka Mako continues with rehabilitation. Expected time to return to full training: 1-2 weeks.

"Abel Mabaso removed cast earlier this week and has started to begin range movement and strength exercises. Expected time to return to full training: 4+ weeks."
