Orlando Pirates’ run of form has seen a drastic change of late, and one of their star players has commented on their recent emphatic victory.
Pirates are currently unbeaten in their last three matches since the arrival of Josef Zinnbauer, winning two and drawing one – the sort of run that has not happened since last season.
The German seems to have found a formula for his charges, who began losing hope in the early stages of this season as they battled for consistency.
But on-form striker Gabadinho Mhango believes it is an important part of their campaign, and the tide is beginning to turn for them at just the right moment as the season approaches its climax.
“This is just the result and performance we needed. We really got stuck into giving a good performance, very intense from front to back,” said Mhango of their 4-1 win on Tuesday on his club’s website.
“We worked so hard and moved the ball well, particularly in the first half, but most importantly, we went home with all three points.”
The Malawian international, meanwhile, has taken over the scoring baton from Highlands Park's Peter Shalulile as he now leads the league scoring charts with 10 goals this season, after bagging a treble against Polokwane City last night.
“On a personal level, I am very pleased to have scored a hat-trick. As an attacking player, goals are what we live for,” he continued.
“But there’s no time to relax, we need to stay grounded and not get ahead of ourselves. We have important games lined up this month.
“We need to try build on last night’s performance and produce some consistent results.”
